Boarding The Bus

Prepare to Step Aboard!

Before we welcome you aboard, please allow riders who are exiting the bus a little extra space so they can do so safely. Once they have disembarked, you can follow the guidelines below to board The Bus and start your trip.

Boarding The Bus

Look at the Bus Banner

When you see the bus approaching, check the digital banner above the front windshield for the route number and name. If it’s the bus you want to catch, wave to the driver so he or she knows you want to get on.

Wait for the Bus to Stop

Stay on the sidewalk until the bus comes to a complete stop. The driver will open the door and invite you on to The Bus.

Storing a Bike

If you have a bicycle with you, use the bike rack located at the front of The Bus to store your bike during your ride prior to boarding The Bus.

Be sure to check out the How-To page for detailed instructions on how to load and unload your bike.

Boarding with Kids

Keep your kids close at all times so you don’t get separated.

Assistance with a Mobility Device

All YC Transit buses are fully accessible and our drivers are trained to assist you in loading your device. Ask for the ramp or lift. The driver can assist you if you need help guiding your mobility device onto the ramp or lift.

Bringing a Service Animal

Service animals are welcome on The Bus. All other animals must be secured in carriers.

Pay Your Fare

Once fares are back, after stepping onto The Bus you’ll pay your fare or if you have a bus pass, show it to the driver.

Find a Seat

The front of The Bus is reserved for seniors and people experiencing disabilities. The remaining seats are for all other riders.

Keep Your Personal Items Close

To ensure everyone’s comfort and safety during the trip, please keep your bags, purse, jacket, and other items close to you. This helps maintain a tidy space and makes it easier for all riders to navigate The Bus.
